Second session, here it comes the most wanted session : a speech by Matt Mullenweg, the WordPress Founder. Dalam session ini, aku mendapatkan banyak eye opener. Dengan humblenya, Matt menjelaskan tentang sejarah, perkembangan dan rencana kedepan di Wordpress.

Here are some notes on it :

• b2/cafelog merupakan precursor bagi WordPress (writtenn in PHP/MySQL)
   
• Wordpress pertama kali di release pada tahun 2003 dan mulai populer pada tahun 2004 (related to Movable Type licensing)
   
• 3 Major Release (nama code diambil dari nama musisi jazz yang terkenal)
  - Micheal Brecker – WordPress 2.5
  - McCoy Tyner – WordPress 2.6
  - John Coltrane – WordPress 2.
   
• Konsep dari WordPress :
  ‘user driven development’ : it is what user think and want 
  OpenSource :  the phyloshopy is the more you  let go, the better we are
   
• Dengan developer yang tersebar di beberapa negara, WordPress selalu mengembangkan their widgets, image/ gallery features, and its Plugin compatibility (salah satu hasil konkret adalah pada WordPress 2.8)
   
• Wordpress dalam Bahasa merupakan pengguna terbanyak setelah English dan Spain
   
• Indonesia is listed in the second as the fastest growing dalam enam bulan terakhir (terbukti dengan adanya 132.103 pengguna baru) – Jakarta dan Surabaya ada di deretan kota teratas
   
• FREEDOM (open source of GPL) is the reason why WordPress berkembang dengan pesat, freedom ini mencakup :
  - the freedom to run the program for any purpose –> commercial, non commercial
  - to study how the program works and adapat it to your needs
  - redistribute copies so you can help your neighborhoood
  - to improve the program and release your improvement (and modified version on general) to the public so that the community benefits
   
• Tips from Matt in using WordPress: Learn from the basic and do not afraid to learn the php code
   
• WordPress for Blackberry is under development
